About Moonhawk Herbs & Elements
Moonhawk Herbs & Elements is a holistic herbal practice rooted in respect for the intelligence of plants and the innate wisdom of the body.
We believe the body is not broken — it is communicating. Through personalized consultations and thoughtfully crafted formulations, we work to restore balance rather than suppress symptoms.
Our approach blends traditional Western herbalism, plant energetics, and elemental theory to support each person as a unique ecosystem.
At Moonhawk, herbs are not trends. They are allies.
Every formula is created in small batches with intention, integrity, and deep reverence for the natural world.
Healing here is steady, grounded, and relational — rooted in Earth, guided by intuition, and aligned with the rhythms of nature.

Meet the Founder
Moonhawk Herbs & Elements was founded by Jennifer Thomas (formerly known professionally as Jennifer Rich), whose roots in plant medicine began on an herb farm in Vienna, Ohio — the original Moonhawk Herbals.
From 2006–2016, Jennifer worked closely with her mentor, Sandy Simon, cultivating over 100 varieties of medicinal plants across 30 acres of land. What began as helping on the farm grew into a decade of immersive study, formulation, client interaction, and herbal education. She also led garden tours and classes, sharing the living medicine of the land with the community.
Jennifer was first formally trained in Western Herbalism before continuing her studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2016, she graduated from the East West School of Planetary Herbology, where she deepened her understanding of TCM-based methodology integrated with both Chinese and Western herbs.
Over time, her clinical perspective shifted toward a primarily TCM-informed framework — emphasizing constitution, energetics, and pattern differentiation. While she values the historical roots of Western herbalism, her work today is grounded in Chinese medical theory and the precision of energetic diagnosis. Planetary herbalism further allows her to integrate multiple traditions through a TCM lens, creating formulations that are both classical and adaptable.
Her father, Ronald Rich, served as store manager of the original Moonhawk Herbals and played an integral role in expanding its Chinese herbal offerings. Together, their work helped evolve the farm and apothecary toward a more energetically refined and constitutionally aware approach.
Following the passing of her mentor, Jennifer established Moonhawk Herbals, LLC to carry the work forward and preserve its legacy. Moonhawk Herbs & Elements represents both continuity and growth — honoring the land, the lineage, and the evolution of the medicine.
Her practice centers on:
• TCM-based constitutional assessment
• Whole-plant formulation using Chinese and Western herbs
• Elemental and energetic pattern support
• Education rooted in long-term balance
Jennifer believes true herbalism requires discernment — understanding not just the plant, but the person receiving it.
Moonhawk is a living practice shaped by mentorship, land stewardship, family legacy, and deep respect for the energetics that govern both plants and people.
